As the June 1, 2024, summer driving season approached, ACE rallied advocates to call on the White House and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and urge the Biden Administration to take emergency steps to allow E15 nationwide during the 2024 summer driving season. ACE members also pushed EPA to take this action during its March DC fly-in. Members of Congress joined the call, urging President Biden to expeditiously grant the series of emergency waivers that would lift restrictions on the sale of E15 in the summer of 2024. EPA responded to the calls mid-April by issuing an emergency fuel waiver for E15.
Earlier this year, the Biden administration finally confirmed E15 can permanently be offered in eight Midwest states, but postponed year-round access in those states until the summer of 2025. The Biden administration has rightfully exercised emergency authority to enable nationwide access to E15 for three summer driving seasons, but ultimately Congress must adopt the bipartisan Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act (S. 2707) to ensure continuous access to E15 nationwide. ACE is encouraging advocates to now call on their members of Congress to foster support for this bill at ethanol.org/action-center.
ACE Opens 2024 Scholarship Program
The American Coalition for Ethanol Scholarship Program for the 2024-2025 academic year opened in April. As ACE introduced this year’s program, the organization congratulates the 2023 scholarship recipients Elizabeth Studer, Mallory Moorman and Kaelyn Drury. Each student received a $1,000 scholarship through the program to help further their collegiate education.
Employees or shareholders, spouses of employees or shareholders, or dependent (children aged 24 and under of employees or shareholders) of an Associate, Voting, or Ethanol Producer member of ACE are eligible. Employees must be employed a minimum of one year as of the application deadline date. The program closed in early May. This is a yearly opportunity, so if you missed this year’s application window, make all eligible employees aware of this terrific opportunity available to them through your company’s ACE membership next year. Learn more and apply at ethanol.org/ace-scholarship-program. Contact Anna Carpenter at the ACE office if you are interested in funding this program or would like to learn more about having a student participate in future years.
